Project Brief

Our client is an award winning SME focusing on call center, resource and IT management. Our client has been in the customer relationship industry for many years, with their collective experience. Their plan is to build a holistic and affordable CRM that suits local business.

Why? Hubspot and other CRM are too expensive and not all features are suitable to local Malaysian businesses.

We are tasked to develop a comprehensive CRM to cater to Malaysia’s business.

The hustle and bustle

Project was completed in 12 months and launched in 9 months.

One of the biggest challenges that we faced during the development is the process of to understand how clients handle all his sales deals, tasks and client support tickets. After we have understood our client operation, our developers are able to build a product that suits client’s business needs and requirements.

Having weekly meet-ups with the client to ensure all scopes are aligned with what initially agreed. We also sort out uncertainties and obstacles during the development phase to improve the system along the way.

Our team are flexible in the development timeline to cope with their marketing plan.

The development Team helps to build a multi-tenancy system, which is the biggest challenge in database nowadays. The tech team ensures to fulfil the client's requirement on providing maximum security for the company's data.

Thryffy is fashion marketplace platform where consumers can buy and sell pre-loved clothing in their mobile app.

Our IT team helped to design a unique UI/UX design so that the mobile app has its own identity. Our development is focused on making browsing and purchasing as smooth as silk.

Thanks to our creative designers, we’ve crafted wireframes to have our client to better understand and visualize the flow before development, this allow us to save time for Thryffy team while also delivering what is expected.

Project Brief

Apigate Storefront Mini App is an external web and mobile platform that dynamically works on the Boost main mobile application.

Storefront Min App is a versatil web and mobile application to integrate and work with different kind of service providers:

Astro - Satellite Television and Radio Operator
Mubi - Global curated film streaming service
Razer Gold - Unified virtual credit for gamers worldwide
SmartNas - Cambodian Gaming service provider

Challenges

Initially, the client requested to provide a solution using their current software architecture standard (Java) within a very short timeline. The client provided us their workflow diagram for our understanding on the requirements.

Our tech team involves in system integration with various architectures including RESTFUL architecture, SOAT architecture, AWS to GCP integration.

Our project manager provides technical handover to the engineering team, operation team, IT team upon project completion.

We also assisted in cloud architecture implementation to owner’s engineering team on the deployment to internally secured cloud service via company’s VPN.

Solution

We agreed to take the challenge and work on the project where the current software architecture (Java) is not what we actively work on in our daily basis.

We provided wire frame and mockups to direct the client to a better solution. As understanding the flow chart they provided earlier was a little redundant and unclear, our project manager helped to plan out new workflow and timeline with our development team.

With the aid of UML diagrams and flowchart, we supported the engineering team on understanding the integration process and overview of the product architecture.

With the aid of database diagram and predefined database queries, we assisted the operation team on the support of database management.

Results

To finalize the project, we successfully launched 4 mini apps in Boost within 6 months.

ASP Xperience

Project Brief

ASP Xperience is a leading health care provider in Malaysia. ASP Medical Group has grown steadily over the years and has established itself as a renown, leading Third Party Administrator (TPA) and Managed Care Organization (MCO) serving well known Multinational Companies.

Dr Tan, our client, initially wants to form an in-house tech team to build in-house products related to the medical industry.

Knowing the huge capital required to form a tech team that consists of a project manager, developers and designer, our client decides to consult us instead, that’s where our journey with ASP Medical starts.

Challenges

ASP knew what they wanted in their mobile app development. Their intention is to contribute back to their loyal customers, and to motivate customers to stay healthy and get a reward.

We suggested ASP to go for React Native, as we believe its efficiency and low-cost suit our client the most.

Our CTO and project manager worked closely with ASP Group IT team to communicate on how the authentication integration can be synchronized to the user database of their legacy system. We want to provide a system architecture that facilitates the new system as well as the existing one.

Our project manager have weekly meetings with ASP Group to make sure the development are in line with the initial requirements.

We launched the app in 4 months, 1 month early from the proposal.

Challenges

We follow our development standard to advise the client to more effective journey to understanding their own product and how to deliver marketable product to the consumer. Here are our insights:

  • Our designer prepared UI/UX wire frame and design with a proper user journey.
  • We prepared requirement sheet and had discussions with the client on understanding the project scope.

Frequent changes of requirement takes place during development phase:

  • Our software project manager handles this well by allowing the client to include in changes in order to control the cost of the development and time required for the development.
  • Any requirement changes that was considered as a big chunk was brought forward to the next phase development hence the deployment of the system will not be delayed.

iExpress

Project Brief

Our project with iExpress involves development of integrated robust mobile application platform with multiple third party logistic features.

iExpress is a local logistics fulfillment company, providing service such as delivery, fulfillment, forwarding, import and export

iExpress currently has 6 outlets, and is one of the favorite delivery partners for many business merchants

Challenges

iExpress came to us with an idea of providing logistic solution to customers in one single mobile app. The ultimate aim is to not only improve customer experience on delivering parcels, but also enhancing fulfillment operations with integrations to popular third party logistics such as NinjaVan, teleport, ABX, Skynet, Aramex and Teleport.

We want our mobile app system to seamlessly create orders to the delivery partner’s server and able to track parcels in real time.

We had countless sessions with the API managers of different Third Party Logistics to make sure we understand how we can integrate with them.

The tasks is to create a system that solves daily operation issue of all outlets:

  • Customer is able to prepare multiple parcels in the mobile app.
  • Outlet supervisors will confirm the orders by the customers allowing the system to seamlessly notifies the third party logistic for pickups.

IDW Design & Build - Super App

Challenges

We're tasked to develop a super app with core modules such as e-commerce within a given 3 months period so that our client is able to launch the app for the Hari Raya campaign. Therefore, we need to maximise our resources to ensure the project is delivered on time.

Thankfully, the IDW team already knew what they want in the app and initial requirements provided by them was clear.
However, during the development we stumbled across unforeseem roadblicks but our team helped to calibrate to make sure expectations are well aligned.

How we took up the challenge to launch a full fledge e-commerce in 3 months

Our project manager and development team planned out and executed the timeline for each development sprint and deliverables.

Our project manager has huge amount of meeting to iron out the requirements and input his solutions to advise the client to understand the outcome of the solution with the aid of UML, flowchart and Figma UI/UX designs.

Upon the completion of the project, our project manager prepared the session for user acceptance testing (UAT). The client took their time to fully test the system from the end-user perspective and with the support of our technical team.

The project team has to understand and utilize updated technology and make a precise choice of system architecture which was rare in the current market.

The project manager was working very closely and have a weekly meeting with client to update the development progress in order to get the product out to the market

The project manager has to involve in the external meeting with the client on the system integration with 3rd party service partner (eg. Atome, SenangPay) to fully understand the process and provide a technical feasibility study.

The outcome?

We launched the app to Google PlayStore and Apple App Store to be in time for the campaign!

Project Brief

Koiko is a membership reward mobile platform based in Sarawak, Malaysia. Jackson and his team approached us to build a mobile app to allow their loyal customers to enjoy rewards from their favorite merchants.

Challenges

We’ve faced many clients with bad experiences with previous app developers, and Jackson is one of the many. After a few session with him and giving technical information that he lacks, we gave him the confidence to proceed with us.

We explained to Jackson on how app development process works Starting from brainstorming, and shifting to design wire frames & mockups, and lastly, development, which he had never experienced before with other developers.

We are having weekly meeting with Jackson to make sure he can visualize how his app will look like. We also update our progress time to time as we want to make sure he knows he is investing for a project that is going to blossom.

It took us 2.5 months to launch the mobile app to Google play store and Apple iOS App store.

LADAP Plus

Project Brief

LADAP Plus, developed by our team in collaboration with our client, PEMIMPIN GSL, aims to create a mobile application that provides a seamless experience in accessing bite-sized and practical continuous professional development (CPD) content for educators and aspiring teachers in Malaysia.

LADAP Plus also addresses a need for a platform that enables teachers to share their best classroom practices nationwide - thus enabling teacher professional development to be done in both self-paced and collaborative means.

As the app aspires to serve a large teaching population of at least 400,000 teachers of varied age groups, geographical demographics, and Internet accessibility in Malaysia, the app was developed with an intuitive user interface and design in the forefront coupled with an offline access feature that enables effective usage in low connectivity locations.

Challenges

Offline Capability Requirement: For LADAP Plus to serve its purpose effectively, establishing offline capability is a key requirement. The challenge lies in allowing users to access the app’s resources even without Internet connectivity - which is especially crucial for teachers who teach in remote or low-connectivity areas.

High Quality Design and User Experience: Another challenge was delivering top-class design and a smooth user flow for teachers to navigate the app and utilise its features intuitively. Achieving this required a focus on user interaction design to enhance the app’s usability and engagement.

Optimizing Large Video Files: LadapPlus encountered the challenge of optimizing video files uploaded by users that were too large for efficient streaming and storage. Additionally, managing video content posed scalability and cost concerns for the platform.

Implemented Solutions

Offline Access Integration: As the developers behind LadapPlus, we implemented robust offline access features. This involved developing functionalities that allowed teachers to download specific resources or modules for offline use, ensuring uninterrupted access to critical CPD materials even in areas with limited internet connectivity.

User-Centric Design Approach: We prioritized user experience design, adopting a user-centric approach to ensure that the app's design and user flow met the needs and preferences of teachers. Extensive usability testing and feedback collection were conducted to refine the app's design and optimize user interaction.

Video Optimization with AWS Lambda and CloudFront: To address the challenge of optimizing large video files, LadapPlus leveraged AWS Lambda for video transcoding and compression, reducing file sizes while maintaining quality. Additionally, the platform integrated Amazon CloudFront for efficient video streaming, ensuring seamless playback and minimizing latency for users accessing video content.

Results and Statistics

Since its launch two months ago, LadapPlus has garnered over 8,000 downloads across both the App Store and Google Play Store, indicating strong initial traction and interest among government teachers.

Additionally, the app currently ranks as a top 3 education app in the App Store and a top 5 education app in the Google Play Store, further highlighting its popularity and positive reception within the education community.

Furthermore, LadapPlus boasts a daily active user base of 300 teachers, underscoring its engagement and utility within the target audience.

Conclusion

By overcoming the challenges pertaining to offline access and seamless user experience, our team successfully enhanced LADAP Plus’ usability and accessibility for educators in Malaysia.

Through our collaboration with our client, PEMIMPIN GSL, we have introduced novel ways for teacher professional development through LADAP Plus in Malaysia - as it stands as the first mobile application in the country that provides teacher professional development content.
